Even though I watched football, I did finish a hat.

Happy Holidays!
I finally finished my classes, and my knitted and crocheted gifts for the holidays. Now I have more time to blog and make some fun items.
My fingerless gloves were easy to make after I continued to check every increase row (check previous blog). I decided to add ombre color to the edge at the wrist and around the thumb and fingers. It was fun deciding which row to begin the new color. Ombre is yarn with several colors in one skein.
I hope your holiday is great and take time to knit or crochet.

I am making fingerless gloves for a co-worker. I completed one easily but was working on the second one when I noticed I dropped a stitch. I could use a crochet needle and weave the dropped stitch slowly up the three rows it had fallen to or I could unknit those three rows. Since this is a really easy pattern, I decided to take it out completely. The most important point to this blog is to always check your stitches between working on your pattern. This pattern increases almost every three rows and I should have check my stitches between those rows.
I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving with your family and friends. Try to do some relaxing knitting before your guests arrive--anytime before they arrive. If you are cooking, between basting pick up your knitting to relax and stay calm before all the rush of guests arriving, food prep, serving, eating and clean up. You will be extremely busy today so a little "me" time will be needed so why don't add your knitting at that time. Find a quiet spot in your bedroom and pick up your knitting. If you cannot knit before all your guests arrive, do knit after they leave.

So, Sorry about yesterday's blog but as soon as I was ready to type more something interrupted me.
What I was trying to say yesterday was that teaching is also good for the teacher. You learn what is the best way to teach a new procedure and instantly if it works. I'm really enjoying teaching to knit and as soon as this class is over. I will post some new patterns that I have incorporated into my classes.
Keep Knitting.

Don't forget to turn your clock back tonight if you live on the east coast. I turn mine back when I go to bed which is usually before 2am. Then when I awake, my clock is correct. Happy Halloween!!!

I guess I should explain ribbing to those of you who are just starting to knit. Ribbing is found on the cuffs on sweaters, around the neckline sometimes and/or at the bottom of your sweater. This helps these areas from rolling up. Usually a rib is combination of knitting 2 stitches and purling the next 2 stitches. You repeat these two stitches until the end of the row. This is why it is important to remember to wrap your yarn back and forth on your knitting needles.
Whatever you are knitting just remember this is a fun activity--relax and enjoy!

The best ribbing tip I can give is remember to bring your yarn to the front of your knitting needle when you purl that stitch and return it to the back when you complete your purl stitch. This way you do not get more stitches than you started with.
